Our Curriculum:
Designed for Ages 2 - 5
Our curriculum at Nitty Gritty Preschool is carefully designed to provide children with a well-rounded and enriching learning experience. Through a combination of social-emotional, music, phonics, and handwriting programs, we aim to foster a love of learning and help children build important skills that will serve them well throughout their academic journey.
Literacy is a crucial component of early childhood education, and we have incorporated the Zoo-phonics curriculum into our program to help children develop strong reading and writing skills.
Zoo-phonics is a research-based program that uses animal-themed characters and fun activities to teach children letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and other early literacy skills.
Through the Zoo-phonics approach, children learn to associate each letter of the alphabet with a corresponding animal and sound, which helps them develop a strong foundation for reading and writing.
Kimochis Social Emotional Curriculum: At Nitty Gritty Preschool, we understand the importance of social-emotional development in children. We have incorporated the Kimochis curriculum into our program to help children identify and express their feelings in a safe and healthy way.
Kimochis is a research-based program that uses plush characters and fun activities to teach children how to communicate effectively, make responsible choices, and develop healthy relationships. Through this curriculum, children learn valuable skills such as emotional regulation, empathy, and conflict resolution, which will serve them well throughout their lives.
Our teachers are trained in the Kimochis® approach and use it to foster a positive, supportive environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Music is a powerful tool for early childhood development and supports all learning modalities. Nitty Gritty is proud to offer Music Together® In-School Curriculum.
Music Together® is a research-based program that focuses on early childhood music education and is designed to encourage musical exploration and creativity in young children.
Through singing, dancing, and instrument play, children develop their language, social, and cognitive skills in a fun and engaging way. Our certified Music Together® teacher leads children to create a musically rich environment where children can learn and grow.
The Music Together curriculum is designed for children from birth to age five. It is based on the belief that all children are musical and can benefit from early exposure to music education.
Handwriting is an important skill that children need to develop to succeed academically. We have incorporated the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum into our program to help children develop strong handwriting skills.
Handwriting Without Tears is a research-based program that uses a multisensory approach to teach children how to write in a fun and engaging way. Through the Handwriting Without Tears approach, children learn to write using simple, easy-to-remember strokes, which helps them develop good handwriting habits from an early age.
Our teachers are trained in the Handwriting Without Tears approach and use it to create a supportive environment where children can learn and practice their handwriting skills.
